The Interior Design Process (Part 1)

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

Have all these lockdowns got you thinking about a renovation project on your home? You know you need some help but are not sure of how the actual interior design process works?

We know how hard it can be to manage your own project – from deciding what you want, sourcing the materials, the budget, the trades … the list keeps going!

Experience has shown us that knowledge of the Interior Design process and knowing what to expect helps our clients to feel confident with their renovation and comfortable for the project's duration. (Which depending on the size of the project, can take a lot of time … up to two years for a whole-house redesign and construction!)

So let's break it down. The Cranberry Design process is basically split into four phases:

1. The Consultation Phase;

2. The Research, Design and Presentation Phase;

3. The Project Phase; and

4. Installation Day

In this post, we will talk about the first phase.

The Consultation Phase

Whether it is a new build or you are ready to transform your existing home into one you love, we are here to guide you through the entire process. We think this first step of your project is one of the most exciting!

This is where we will meet / Zoom at your property (if you're renovating) or if building a new property, in our offices or at the project site. Here you will brief us on the scope of your project, lifestyle, style, inspiration, timeline, and budget so that we fully understand your ideas, wants and needs. We will assess your timelines and our workload and give you as much information as we can to prepare you for the next steps.

During this stage, we will measure and document the areas to be worked on. We will look at your existing architecture and any rooms needing to be worked on to ensure a harmonious relationship between the old and the new.

Following the briefing, we will tailor a package customised to your needs, specifications and budget. Cranberry Design will work with you every step of the way to create a beautifully designed home that is functional, well-considered and, most importantly, one you will love for years to come.
